Things To Do in Forks, WA
So, you’re planning an Olympic Peninsula getaway and want to know if there are any things to do in Forks, WA, beyond the great outdoors and Twilight. It’s a great question and the answer is a resounding YES!
There’s no denying that nature is on center stage here on the Olympic Peninsula. Most folks come here to see Olympic National Park and the Hoh Rain Forest. Hiking, biking, camping, beach combing, fishing, and surfing are the most common activities. Those and sight seeing at such iconic locations as Sol Duc Falls, Rialto Beach, Lake Ozette, Cape Flattery, Lake Crescent – the list is truly endless.
Even the most dedicated outdoor enthusiast craves a good cup of coffee or a slice of pizza now and again, however. Forks, WA may be both remote and small but it’s also a tourist destination – and has been since well before Stephenie Meyer dreamed up Edward and Bella.
Things To Do in Forks WA
Manitou Lodge is only 15 minutes from Forks. Even though you could easily stay with us without ever entering town, it IS just right there and it does have plenty to offer, no matter what your interests.
Given Forks’ size and location, it should come as no surprise that it is loaded with small town charm. Some vintage postcard images of town look like they could have been taken last week.
Those who enjoy browsing unique shops will find plenty in Forks.
The Attic Secondhand Store (aka Sarge’s Attic) is a treasure trove for antiques and vintage fans. Better yet, proceeds from all sales go towards helping the homeless Veterans of Clallam and Jefferson Counties.
Looking to spruce up your house, yard, or garden? Stop by The Rusty Gate Nursery for a wide variety of unique household and garden decor.
Chinook Pharmacy may not sound too interesting to anyone without a physical complaint but it is so much more than just a basic drug store. Inside, you’ll discover they have a surprisingly wide selection of items, including jewelry, souvenirs, fabric, toys, books, Twilight merchandise, and more.
Outdoor Supplies
Hoping to upgrade, replace, or add to your hiking and camping supplies?
Stop by Forks Outfitters. Forks Outfitters has all the sporting goods and outdoor adventure gear you need – and that’s not all. They also sell groceries, housewares, and other general goods. They’re an Ace Hardware and can also provide fishing and hunting licenses.
Camping and backpacking enthusiasts will also benefit from a stop at Luxe Hiking Gear. Luxe sells unique and specialized camping gear: lightweight tipis, hot tents, wood stoves, camp tarps, and much more.
Forks WA Museums
Every visitor should take the time to check out The Forks Timber Museum. Who knew homesteading, farming, and logging could be so fascinating? The museum’s 3 hour Forks Lumber Mill Tour also gets very high marks.
John’s Beachcombing Museum is another fascinating, local museum. In fact, it’s the only one of its kind in the world! John Anderson has been beachcombing local since the 1970’s and has organized it all into one fun stop in Forks, WA. Open summers and by appointment.
The beautiful Rainforest Arts Center is also well worth your time. Stop by to view the rotating gallery of local art and history. And, yes, props and costumes from the Twilight movies.
Forks WA Dining
Forks is home to a surprising number of dining options. There’s Chinese, Mexican, barbecue, deli, drive-in, coffee, and more. So much, in fact that they’ve created a helpful, downloadable Forks restaurant guide. Clearly, one of the most popular things to do in Forks WA is eat!
