Twilight may have more recently “put us on the map” but the primary reason to visit the Olympic Peninsula never changes: Olympic National Park. The sheer majesty and grandeur of the mountains, beaches, rainforest, and all in between, puts everything else to shame.

Our location has us surrounded by popular Olympic National Park destinations. La Push, Rialto Beach, Sol Duc Hot Springs, Lake Ozette, and the Hoh Rainforest are all within easy reach from our front door.

In fact, there are so many attractions in the immediate area that the problem often isn’t what to see and do so much as it is what to miss! Visitors are strongly encouraged to budget as much time as possible for their visit to the Olympic Peninsula. One day is most definitely not enough!

Olympic National Park

Olympic National Park encompasses almost a million acres of wilderness and three different ecosystems. Within, you’ll find glacier-capped mountains, old-growth rain forests, and more than 70 miles of natural coastline.

The vast and varied landscape is crisscrossed with some 600 miles of hiking trails – but that’s not all you can do here. Olympic National Park also provides plenty of opportunities for biking, kayaking, rafting, fishing, and more.

First time visitors should definitely check out the Hall of Mosses in Hoh Rain Forest. This simple, 1-mile loop trail is a fantastic introduction to what a temperate rainforest is.

Glacier-carved Lake Crescent is another popular destination, with swimming, boating, fishing and plenty of hiking trails. Marymere Falls and Sol Duc Falls are both nearby and well worth their easy hikes. Sol Duc Hot Springs are also in the neighborhood and open seasonally with three hot pools, a swimming pool, kayaking, and whitewater rafting.

Ruby Beach and Beach 4 in Kalaloch are especially popular with birders and other fans of wildlife. Bald eagles, tufted puffins, harbor seals, sea stars, anemones, and more abound in this protected area. Rialto Beach, another popular destination, is just three miles from Manitou Lodge!
